CBD Hemp

I first started looking into CBD after getting advice from a family member to look into it for my little brother. He had recently had a mental health issue and we were looking for something that could help calm his anxiety. Marijuana that is high in THC worked for him, but he was smoking an enormous amount of it and it only seemed to have a short-term benefit. CBD on the other hand seemed like it could similar anxiety-relief without the high from THC.

I was at first convinced that CBD only came as an oil. This was partially due to hearing from a cousin who was using CBD oil with her dogs to relax them. According to her, the dogs love it. Indeed, they do seem calmer when they are on it. I’ve since seen a large number of CBD products become available for pets and imagine we’ll continue to learn more about how it can be helpful for them.

Meanwhile, a friend of mine let me know that there is actually quite a bit of CBD rich strains of cannabis available. Upon exploration though, it turned out it was actually hard to obtain these strains as often they would be sold out at dispensaries nearby. An underserved market perhaps? It seems so, maybe because a lot of growers are so focused on growing higher and higher THC strains that they have neglected to research, promote, and grow the CBD strains out there.

Have you seen CBD flower? It can be quite beautiful in the same way you’d expect cannabis to be, just with a different mix of the amount of cannabinoids available. As it happened, a friend recently came by with some fresh CBD hemp flower to show. I took a whiff and it smelled great, just like the stick-icky stuff I’d expect. However, none of the heady highs from smoking it, just a good buzz in the body with a bit of relaxation and overall great feeling.

For here though, we’ll continue to look into CBD, specifically flower, to understand the similarities and differences to the kinds of cannabis marijuana with high THC that we are used to seeing. Ultimately, we just want to explore and share in this wonderful plant and celebrate that CBD is completely legal in the United States, thankfully, so we can all enjoy it, in a way that we can’t currently with THC strains. Maybe someday the government will come to its senses and legalize that as well for the people who want it, but in the meantime let’s enjoy some CBD flower and all hope for a little less anxiety and more relaxation in our lives.

Till next time, your CBD friend,
Harvey P
