Paths cross along fates line

In fall, the sunshine left, in it’s wake, ruin and heartache.

The leaves shed their tears as the sun’s immediacy yet distance scorned them.

The wind watched from afar, making it’s talk through cold words and lies.

The fall was cold, withdrawn, and lacked the sunshine it so desperately needed.

In winter, the sunshine came back.

Their sunshine brought light to the cold days now behind, bringing forth the joy of warmth. With sun kissed love, the trees regained life and love, even if their leaves had been stolen by the sun that now returned. However, the trees did not mind. The wind passed many warm words, words spoken in deep calming breaths. It delivered the suns kisses and affection in return for the brisk touch of a hand and the brief exchange of a hug.

The winter brought the warmth and relief that the moon so desperately desired. The winter brought back the sunshine.

With entangled limbs and held hearts, the sun and the moon interloped. The sun was the brightness the moon needed, and the moon the suns balance. They lit up the morning skies with care and, at night, carried the night with the darkest violet sky, the suns bright siblings only adding to the beauty of nighfall and the adoring image of the sun.

The sun held the adoration and love of the moon and the moon, the sun.

However… Winter does not last.

In the spring, the moon struggled to hold the suns attention. The trees regained their stolen leaves but that did not change their attitude. The wind had stopped its chatter, leaving the moon defenceless to the gossip they spoke.

Soon, the night sky was silent.

The suns siblings were not there to brighten the sky, and the sun absent in mind. The sun was dismissive and withdrawn. The moon was hidden and fearful of what may come.

It wasn’t long before the sun left again.

The moon was assaulted. Lonely. Hurt.

The day the sun left, the moon felt helpless.

They begged and pleaded,

“Do not go. Not again.”

The sun simply turned its back and walked into the dawn of a new day.

The moon wept and was fearful.

Alone again.

The sun had left them, weak and weary.

The moon knew they had to go on, go on to light up the night sky as they once did, with or without the sun or its siblings.

But, even that was difficult.

The moon would stay out until dawn and come out before it was nightfall.

The moon was, once again, alone.

As time went on, the moon found other suns,

other radiance that provided them what they needed.

Sometimes, they would last. Othertimes, the moon was dissatisfied and tossed them off their beaten path for something bigger, better, and more providing.

From a distance, the sun watched, broken down and heartbroken.

It was their fault.

Their fault.

The moon was just as heartbroken and downtrodden. The sun thought constantly,

obsessing over a ruined life and a broken heart.

As the moon continued its escapades, jumping from one love to another, the sun truly thought.

“Why was I the one the moon traveled alongside the longest?”

The moon and the sun were one. They worked perfectly, regardless of the fires and the flames, the cold and the ice.

“Was I truly that special?”

The moon never wanted the sun to truly leave. So why did they? Why did the sun leave when they could have stayed ‘till the end?

“Was the moon my soulmate?”

The sun missed the moon.

It missed the moons brightness, the love and care it provided, how it lit the night sky so effortlessly with just a little help and a little harmony.

The sun missed the way the moon appreciated the little things the sun did and made the sun a deity, even in the eyes of the humans below. To the sun, the moon was the best thing that ever happened to them. To let them go was a farce.

When the sun learned of the moons pain, the sun desperately wanted to make it better,

to send its rays of warmth that it shone only months before to them and rekindle the lost love. But, the sun knew that once the moon no longer shone, it no longer shone. The sun remained distant and realised that the moon was much better off without them. But, oh how the sun missed the moon.

“Goodbye, Moon.” the sun said, the dusk turning to dawn, and the moon setting for one final hurrah.

The moon had settled for its long days rest, and the sun had just begun it’s equally as long circuit. Their paths, once intertwined, would never cross again.

This was the fate of a moon and a sun, two beings from opposite realms that were never truly meant to be, falling in love only to break apart.
