Fool Stop

Under my bare ribs

Within my green-grey eyes

In my extremities

When I fail to rise

Realising afresh

Caught out suddenly

Pulled up by my sinews

A bleak vision, but of me

And cruel, yes, so inane

Japing before listening

Blundering ego

Jumping before caring

Facing up to it so

Tempting now I have halted

What they say, how they know

A fool’s weapon is a mirror

Where shall the fool go?
