THE MESSY JOURNEY OF BEING A LEADER

While sitting in my room, my eyes caught sight of my messy table. the cluttered books, wrappers of biscuits, used tissue papers and unorganized diaries. somehow it made me uneasy. it was as if the table was yearning for me to clean it so that the burden could be reduced. but as we all know we always suppress our conscious feelings and try to move forward. I did the same and ignored that table for a while until at night I wake up and my leg got entangled in one of the bags lying across the table.

The surroundings

It has been a while since anyone has cleaned that small table. Everybody deserves to get cleaned whether it is a living thing or a non-living thing, but everyone ignores that table like we ignore garbage lying on the road. So here is what strikes me, what if nobody is doing anything, I can take the step. And this is how I started the journey of cleaning my table. It was a random act. The most crucial step was to arrange everything according to their size. Arranged my diaries according to its size and made a small cardboard shelf to arrange my novels. Next, all the recycled material that could be used for other purposes was collected in a plastic bag. The heavy registers weighing equal to a bag of wheat were placed in a bag and all the gifts from my friends which were covered with dust were placed neatly in a cardboard box. My next move was to clean the table with a piece of cloth and wipe off all the dust. Lastly, I kept my pen holder and a box with several essential items like a nail cutter. Now do you want to have a look at my efforts.?

My cleaned table

Yes! This is done by yours truly. Although it was a small task, but it was fulfilling. It was as if I had resolved a critical issue after pondering over it for a long time. Most importantly was the mini shelf which caught everyone’s attention. this small task would not have struck my mind if Amal Academy had not given me a project. The reason is that I would not have considered it an important task. For me it would have been something which anyone can do. However, what I did not realize is that this small act made a stark difference in the overall look of the room. Every once in a while, this place caught my attention and made me feel happy.

The most important lesson which this project taught me is that controlling a room full of people or setting rules for somebody else is not what leadership is about. Leadership is about how we take responsibility for the small actions in the face of the world, when everybody does not take it. Leadership is about acknowledging the small steps and implementing them. as small drops make a deep ocean and one day that ocean will be yours.
