some days later and my linux laptop is working all right

2019 is an interesting year, I hope more evil hiccups wouldn’t pop up. Things kept nagging at me, or could be just nerves.

After trial and errors, not to mention re-installations of Linux Lite and MX Linux. In two days, I used up thirteen GB worth of bandwidth, forcing me to dial back in watching YouTube videos. I am amazed how MX Linux runs smoothly on my windows 7 Toshiba laptop, aside from the YouTube video playback issues on Opera and Vivaldi browser.

One of the document processors that I can’t do without is FocusWriter. Fortunately it’s available. It would be nice if the maker of SmartEdit Writer would make it available for Linux users. But I will have to make due with what is on hand.

A quick run down of my ole resurrected laptop. The original hard drive croaked, due to some issues, so I had a spare, previously cannibalized hard drive from an HP laptop that got fried by lightning. About that same time, I tried out Linux Mint Cinnamon 17.1 64 bit and quickly bricked it twice via updates and the terminal. After looking for help, one dude from Linux Mint Facebook group suggested Linux Mint Xfce 32 bit. The desktop reminded me of XP, oh the memories, then went back to Cinnamon 64 bit.

After serving me well for few months, I stored it in my bedroom closet. Then fast forward to the present. With my aging windows 8.1 HP laptop and a hand me down MacBook air working for me faithfully

With the start of my adjustment to Linux, I’m not sure how the migration would go. So it will be a continual adjustment, while using it as a word processor.

At the moment yubikeys are unsupported by Linux platform aka Distros. Once they are supported then I would migrate to Linux. Of three easy distros, MX Linux is more compatible on my old Toshiba laptop.
