We Should Not Have To Protect Ourselves From The People Who Are Supposed To Be Protecting Us

If you are posting a black screen on Instagram today June 2nd 2020, but are not using your voice to say something, you are part of the problem. If you are silent, you are the problem. If you are not outraged, you are the problem.

I am a person of color. I have fair skin. I am privileged. That is how privilege works. This should not be the reality, but for HUNDREDS of years now it has been. The BLM movement has now finally gained the momentum that they need to have their voices heard. For years they have been fighting the race war in this country with nothing but arrests and bad reputations as the results. It needs to end.

For those of you who think that the current protests and riots happening right now are “ridiculous”, you are the problem. What’s ridiculous is the fact that after HUNDREDS of years black people are still fighting for their lives. Their fighting to be able to walk out of their homes and not have the fear of being killed in the back of their minds. Their fighting for their own voices to be heard. It’s ridiculous that the system is so broken that some people think that looting a multi-billion dollar corporation is worse than a black person being killed by the police simply because of the color of their skin. Merchandise can be replaced. A life cannot.

How many times does a young black man or woman have to die unjustly for there to be justice?

The point of protesting is to promote the reformation of the American system. “Not all cops are bad” should not be something that we have to say in order to protect the ones that are good. There should be no such thing as a bad cop in the first place. That is the issue. That is the whole point. The system is broken, and instead of admitting it’s flaws and fixing what’s wrong, the people get shut down even more. The media censors the peace and showcases the uproars in order to justify the extreme and unnecessary actions that are being put against us. Violence is the result of frustration from no reformation for YEARS.

We should not have to protect ourselves from the people who are supposed to be protecting us.

Educate yourself. Sign a petition. Donate to bail funds. Use your voice. Recognize your PRIVILEGE. Use your PRIVILEGE. Be the voice for those who no longer have their own.
