What to talk about?

Over the course of the week, I have been trying to figure out what to talk about on my blog. There have been several controversial events going on in the media and in the news that I couldn't wrap my head around just one. Between the shooting that killed 12 in California to the situations that have come up about voting and the ballots, it is a lot to take in for any person.

So I wanted to take this safe space and opportunity to reassure every and anyone that reads this today. No matter how different we may look from one another at the end of the day we all are human beings, and human beings deserve certain human rights and privileges. One would think we would be able to move forward together as a society without violence and manipulation, but that is definitely not the case. We must live in a world where thousands of African American voters’ voices may not have been heard because of power-hungry individuals trying to take control and lead our country. I am not a very political person but one thing I do stand for is equality, and equality has been a constant issue today.

I just want everyone to express themselves and have to opportunity to do so safely. And some may say that some privileges and rights are being taken advantage of but what is it that we can do about it? We can stand up, be the voice and be the change that we want to see. One place that I have been seeing a change and an uprise is within the young black millennial generation and generation Z. I love what I am seeing and I hope that this continues for generation to come because things will change.
