My Writing Pieces Increased When I Got Rid of My Set Schedule

Writing on my iPhone has saved me time. I used to write after I came home from work, after dinner, and chores, and finally settled at about 9:00 pm.

For several months I was fine, but lack of sleep got to me. I slept later and later and woke up at 5:30 am every morning to drive to work on time to teach my first class at 7:45 am.

After about a year, I finally found my writing routine. Because of my change in writing habits, I nearly doubled my work. I still publish 5–7 articles per week, but I have more pieces in draft.

I have no set time to write. When I started writing, I thought writing needed to be done at a set time during the day and thought that was the only time I should write.

The problem with that idea was my writing ideas and writing prompts happen every part of the day. To solve that problem, I used to write notes to myself to remember until I got home and settled in at 9:00 pm.
